Poor summers, grey skies and shorter days leave us still craving sunshine and colour when the summer ends. I love to have plants fresh and growing in the house over the long months of late autumn and winter before the bulbs emerge from the wet earth in early spring and the miraculous cycle of rebirth starts all over again.

These paintings show jugs of cut flowers and some of my favourite house plants. All have been fun to paint and the pot plants grow well in my winter garden on the windowsills and tables of Cleifiog, my gorgeous house facing the Menai Strait on the seafront in Beaumaris.

The images are painted in a mixture of watercolour and gouache on thick creamy watercolour paper.
